Tobacco Change Update

Tobacco Change Update

Kentucky is the most tobacco-dependent state in the United States. Of the 20 most tobacco dependent counties in the nation, 17 are located in our state, most of which are located in areas with limited opportunities for off-farm employment.

In light of changes in this sector, this update provides data comparing tobacco farms and production from the 1992 and the 1997 Agricultural Censuses.
