2020 Census COVID-19 Updates
Just like COVID-19 is impacting our own lives, so too is it impacting the 2020 Census.
This page provides links to the regular updates being posted on the 2020 Census website.
In addition to responding to the 2020 Census, for counties, residents may have applied to become temporary census workers or “Census Takers” and local organizations may have been planning on helping with the 2020 Census count. These, and other aspects of the Census Bureau’s “field operations,” have been delayed due to COVID-19. Updates about jobs and working for the 2020 Census are available here: https://2020census.gov/en/jobs.html.
For students who came home from college due to COVID-19, according to the Census Bureau, students “should be counted at school, even if they are temporarily elsewhere due to the COVID-19 pandemic.” Not sure what to do? This website from the Population Reference Bureau is helpful: https://www.prb.org/covid-19-and-the-2020-census-where-should-college-students-be-counted/.
