Migration Update 2000

Migration Update 2000

This issue of “Kentucky: By the Numbers” uses 2000 Census data to look at migration in two ways. The first looks at if a person moved to a different house during the previous 5 years. This can be a different house but in the same place, or a different place altogether. The other way of looking at migration is to compare where people were born to where they live today. In Kentucky, 73.7% of all people were born in Kentucky. Nationally, 59.9% live in the same state in which they were born.
