2017 Agriculture Update

2017 Agriculture Update

This issue of Kentucky: By The Numbers provides updated data for the County Assessment Data Profile.

The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) conducts the Census of Agriculture every 5 years (in years that end with a “2” or a “7”).  The Census of Agriculture counts “any place from which $1,000 or more of agricultural products were produced and sold, or normally would have been sold, during the census year.”

One of the changes for the 2017 Census of Agriculture is that the term “operator” was replaced with “producer.”
